This week, we celebrate Mary Ellis.
Born May Belle Elsas in 1897, she debuted with the Metropolitan Opera by the time she was 21. Mary abandoned the theater and performed welfare work in hospitals during World War II. When she returned to the stage, she continued performing well into her 90's. Read her memoir "Those Dancing Years" to find out more!
